Proper Nutrition Steps

This will sound a lot easier than it is.  Ready?  There are 3 Proper Nutrition Steps, I hope this helps you!

Proper Nutrition Steps #1:  Cut Out The Obvious Crap

You don’t need me or anyone else to tell you that candy, cookies, sodas, junk food, fast food, and booze and beer are wrecking your body or slowing your progress.  Actually, maybe you do need this?  Here it is: Cut It Out.

If you are eating these things you are not thinking your day through.  I wont say you are not trying, but this the weight loss equivalent to checking the power cord when your TV doesn’t power on, and then finding it unplugged.  Don’t believe it when you see, hear, or read that this crap is okay “in moderation” when you are trying to lose weight, gain muscle, or do much of anything positive to change your body or health.

Every time a person who is working toward a health goal, weight goal, or body goal consumes “obvious crap” they’re either taking a step backward or temporarily halting their progress.  And since many of these foods have addictive properties, moderation goes into the trash faster than junk mail.

You are not a dog or a child. Grow up and stop feeling so entitled to a food reward.

Proper Nutrition Steps #2:  Get Rid of Less Obvious Crap

What is “less obvious crap?” These are foods often considered to be healthy that, well, really aren’t.

Sometimes these are “better bad” choices: things that are still slowing your progress but not as badly as the obvious-crap foods were before.

Lets call them Pretend Health Foods or Processed Foods.  They proclaim their health benefits right on the package: low fat, fat free, low carb, gluten free, high fiber, organic, whole grain, etc.

Low-carb foods can be calorie dense and filled with the worst type of dietary fats.  Fat-free foods are often sugar bombs or brimming with processed flour.Proper Nutrition Steps

Keep in mind – Sugar is gluten-free too.  Kid’s breakfast cereal is “high fiber.” And all of them will still make you fat.

Some easy to follow guidelines for this are:

  • Is the food in a box or a bag?  Yes, it is, then leave it in the aisle at the grocery store, don’t eat it…
  • If you can’t grow it, don’t eat it…
  • If you can’t shoot it or kill it don’t eat it…

You know this information already but you need to hear it again because often when fat loss is the goal, the IQ drops before the body fat percentage does.

Many of these processed foods contain wheat or gluten, I’m not wheat free or gluten free but I can tell you is that I don’t eat much of the stuff and i would recommend the same for you!

EAT CLEAN!

The bottom line: The health benefits of Processed Foods are nonexistent.  You don’t need them.  They probably do you more harm than good.  Don’t put processed foods in your mouth, or at worst, don’t put much in your mouth.

Proper Nutrition Steps #3:  Replace The Crap With Better Stuff

Replace your breads, cereals, and pastas with rice, potatoes, quinoa, oatmeal, buckwheat, and starchy vegetables.

Replace your juice with water because you’re not 7 years old.  Stop drinking soda and alcohol because you just flat out know better.

Replace the Pretend Health Foods with foods you cook yourself.  Don’t follow a Paleo diet, but eat your meats, veggies, eggs, and fruits.  Try it for 3 weeks and see what happens, I would bet money on weight loss and lots of other positive things happening.
